Performance & Accompaniment

Angela Zanders Performance and AccompainmentPerformance

Angela gave her first public performance at the age of 14 as soloist in a Haydn piano concerto in St Paul’s Church, Covent Garden in London, and in the following year was soloist in a Mozart piano concerto at the South Bank with string orchestra conducted by Howard Shelley.

Since then, Angela has performed at many London venues including Wigmore Hall, St James’, Piccadilly and St. Martin’s-in-the-Fields where she has given both solo and chamber recitals, including a performance of Messiaen’s ‘Quartet for the End of Time.’

Angela has also performed extensively at concert venues throughout the UK and Ireland, as well as in Germany, Austria, Spain and U.S.A., both as soloist and as pianist in the Solarek Piano Trio, which she formed in 1992.

Angela has a particular love of accompanying both singers and instrumentalists. She spent 10 years coaching talented singers and instrumentalists at the Centre for Young Musicians in London and has wide experience in performing with musicians such as operatic baritone Andrew Ashwin, with whom she has performed both Schubert’s ‘Winterreise’ and Schumann’s ‘Dichterliebe’ in the last few years. She has also worked extensively with mezzo-soprano Margaret Humphrey Clark, cellist Mikhail Lezdkan and violinists Dorry Macaulay, Marina Solarek and Sara Deborah-Struntz.

Angela has also accompanied a wide variety of choirs and now accompanies the Opera Workshop for students at Chichester University. She regularly coaches and accompanies singers and instrumentalists for Associated Board Music Exams, auditions and other performances.

Thanks for being there when I needed you most (usually a week before a concert! )Your dedication and encouragement cannot be measured and I think for all the pupils at CYM your work will be forever treasured!”  Stella (Pupil at Centre for Young Musicians)

Angela will be performing in Britten’s ‘St Nicolas’ at the Festival Hall in Petersfield as part of the Petersfield Music Festival on 9th March 2013

Earlier this month, Angela performed Schubert’s moving song-cycle ‘Winterreise’ with bass-baritone Michael Pearce at the Chapel of the Ascension, University of Chichester.
